Owner of ‘1 Above’ pub Abhijeet Mankar is now under arrest after being on run for more than a week following Kamala Mills fire incident on December 29 that claimed fourteen lives.
Senior Police Inspector, N M Joshi Marg Police Station, said the 30-year-old was arrested from Marine Lines and prior to him the team arrested the pub’s Jigar and Kripesh Sanghvi from Andheri, the co-owners of ‘1 Above.’
The police said whereabouts of the hotelier was known from the co-owners during the interrogation.
Following these arrests the police team is on the search of Bistro pub’s owner Yug Tulli. It is learned he was spotted at Hyderabad airport couple of days ago but didn’t fly and later disappeared. His search in Hyderabad city is under process.
Another police officer added, “The hearing on Tulli’s anticipatory bail application is scheduled today, following which further action will be decided according to the orders of the court.”
In the Kamala Mill fire incident 14 people were left dead. Eleven of them were young women in the age group of 20 to 30 years. Their bodies were found in the toilet and it is believed they tried to escape the fire running into the area. The bodies were piled up and suffocation is the main cause of their death.
Charcoal was used for hookahs at the Mojo’s Bistro and the fire department said both the restaurants didn’t had any clearance to serve either liquor or run the hookah bar.
