The study found that people who slept nine hours or more had a 23% higher risk of stroke than those who slept less than eight hours a night. However, the report found that those who slept less had an 82% higher risk of stroke.

Another surprising fact is that although researchers say that excessive sleep leads to stroke, studies show that insomnia is more likely to occur in people with stroke. In addition, disorders such as memory loss and depression may arise.

Doctors suggest that it is not clear what the link is between excessive sleep and stroke. However, those who sleep more have higher cholesterol levels and weight gain. Both of these factors contribute to the risk of stroke.
