Google Push Users to Adopt Two-Step Verification For Gmail Mandatorily by 2022

Social media, cloud storage, virtual world are becoming a part of our lives. Cybercriminals regularly target these accounts trying to steal personal data or bank account details.

Hence Google has introduced two-step verification to stop this. The security of various accounts has become an issue lately. Hence, Google has made a key decision giving more priority to the safety of its users.

No matter how careful you are you can become a victim of a scam. Social media sites are squeezing into business mails and looting personal information.

With this in mind, Google has decided to once again implement two-step verification (2FA, two-factor authentication) for the safety of its users. This means that just entering a password is not enough to open Gmail anymore. In addition, another authentication has to be given.

You need to set the password for the user in relation to the next step Google will take over the phone and send you a code. So, when you open Gmail, you will have to complete the phone verification along with the password. So Google is suggesting that you keep your phone next to you when you open Gmail.

Gmail is accelerating the process of step-by-step verification. Google is already sending alert messages to Gmail users in this regard.

In the first phase, a two-step verification process will be implemented for 15 crore accounts. Google has brought selected users into this two-step range since November 8.

Google had tried to implement two-factor authentication in the past, but it backed down due to opposition from users. This time, however, it decided to implement two-factor authentication, citing opposition.

Part of that was limiting it to just ten percent of users in the first phase. The strategy is to apply to all users by the end of 2022.
